Sue holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Fine Art and Art Education from the University of South Dakota. After spending 10 years in Hawaii, and 6 years in Louisiana, Sue moved to the Clinton Area in 1997 and has been working for the North Central Arkansas Foundation for the Arts and Education ever since.

Sue is also an artist on the roster of the Arkansas Arts Council "Arts in Education" Program. Bringing a variety of workshops into the classrooms of Arkansas Schools. She is also a member of the North Central Arkansas Artist League.

Sue spends the bulk of her artistic energy encouraging others to reach their potential, whether it would be a first grader who doesn't think they can draw or a senior adult who is being introduced to the world of poetry. Her personal art focus at the moment is watercolor.

Below are some of the workshops that Sue offers -

1. Anyone Can Draw, Even YOU! - students have a wonderful time brain storming, then drawing simple cartoons. Each grade level has specific topics, but teachers can request any topic to reinforce specific curriculum. Good for K through 6th grade. 45 to 2 hour workshops.

- Gain confidence in your drawing ability

- Be able to dress up home work, illustrate writing, decorate note cards, etc.

2. Basic Calligraphy - students must know the difference between capitol and lower case letters. Good for 5th grade to adults. Pens are provided in workshops. Workshop is 2 hours.

- Make personalized cards and stationery, address envelopes, etc.

3. Art in Math - Folded Boxes - basic shapes are reinforced, listening skills honed, very simple, inexpensive project that the students can continue to make at home. 4th grade and up. Workshop is 45 minutes.

-Make inexpensive ring and earing boxes.

4. Art in Math - scale drawing - students draw a small section of total project to scale. Drawings are put together to display large cartoon. Typically 4 or 5 feet tall by 10 to 15 feet wide, depending on the number of classes participating. It is extremely obvious when students do NOT use scale in their drawings. Workshop introduces the project in a 45 minute session. Students continue to work on their section throughout a week or two during class time as teacher permits. Artist can return to assist classes in putting the large cartoon together.

- An inch in Hawaii is exactly the same as an inch in Arkansas.

5. Class Comic Book - great project! Students select topic for comic book, Anti-Drug, Alphabet, Character Words, Jokes, etc. Each student creates one page of the book. Books are printed and stapled together. School keeps the original large scale book for reading to other classes. Workshop takes approximately 12 to 20 hours spread over a minimum of 3 days. 3rd grade and higher.

- Take home a complete comic book created by you and your classmates.

6. Basic Creative Writing - have fun with group writing, alliteration, metaphors, similes, story telling, etc. 45 minute to 2 hour workshops. Available for preschool through adults.

- Take home original tongue twisters and lots of ideas for future writing projects.
