Area Residents Colored Pencil Show
Fairfield
Bay Library will be the scene of 2 talented sisters from
Memphis
,
Tennessee
who will display their artwork there beginning October 12. Jan Cobb and
Julie Caswell are known for their colored pencil media around venues both local
and in
Memphis
. Recently, they both won awards at the Memphis Colored Pencil Society
Show. Although both women belong to the North Central Arkansas Artists
League, they maintain their ties to
Memphis
through the Memphis Colored Pencil Society.
Having
traveled throughout Europe and the
Far East
, Julie has enriched her training with graduate work in Art History. She
has taken many classes and workshops with significant artists and holds a
Bachelor of Fine Arts from the
University
of
Memphis
. Her Master of Education enabled her to work in
Memphis
area schools for over 20 years. She currently resides with her husband, David,
in Edgemont.
Jan
Cobb retired from
Memphis
to the Greers Ferry lake area with her husband, Tom, after a career as Vice
President in banking. Jan began her art studies 40 years ago with watercolorist,
Jason Williamson. She has taken workshops in colored pencil with Janie Gildow
and Pat Averill and painted in acrylics with Ellen Hobgood. Her 4 grandchildren
provide beloved topics for her media inspirations in watercolor, colored pencil,
oils and decorative floral art. Jan holds a college degree in micro computer
technology from the State Technical Institute of Memphis.
Both of these ladies display delightful paintings and artful treasures at the
Arts and Crafts Corner in
Fairfield
Bay
’s Lakewood Mall.
The
show is open to the general public during regular Library hours Mon.-Friday
1:00-4:00 p.m. and Saturday, 9:30a.m.-12:30 p.m.
